Kuala Lumpur, jo duniye ke sabse khoobsurat deshon me se ek maana jaata hai, is the most populous and capital of Malaysia. It is where most of the travelers and tourists, who wish to holiday and have a whale of a time, arrive from their respective homeland. Covering an area of around 243 square kilometer, Kuala Lumpur is one of the world’s fastest growing economies and cities in the world. Abbreviated as KL, Kuala Lumpur is a city that stuns travelers and visitors, thanks to the mix of culture, language and races one can witness and experience in this beautiful city. Populated by Indians, Chinese and Malays, the city, despite being South East Asian to the core, looks and appears Western because of the towering skyscrapers, posh and well maintained buildings and infrastructure. If you are someone new to Kuala Lumpur, and look forward to viewing and experiencing hidden gems in Kuala Lumpur, check out some of them below.

Little India, Brickfields

BRICKFIELDS_optAs we know, Malaysia, specifically, Kuala Lumpur is a vault of culture and traditions. You can find a unique culture, color, settlement and tradition popping out in some of the major parts of the city. One such region is Little India in Brickfields. As the name suggests, Little India is populated by Indians and offers a glimpse of Indian culture, heritage and traditions. In filmy style, Little India ek aisi jagah hai jo hai Malaysia me, lekin rehne waalon ka dil (phir bhi) hai Hindustani. Here, one can experience the spirit of Indians galore, as the streets come alive during festivals and special occasions. The place is a treat for the eyes and tongue, as the region is colorful, bright and is full of Indian restaurants serving authentic Indian cuisine. So, if you wish to have some desi khaana like masala dosas, alu de paranthe ya  Hyderabadi dum biryani in a far off place away from home, Little India aana toh bantha hai boss!

Merdeka Square

Highly recommended, the Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur is perfect to be traveled at night when the sun has come down and cool breeze has set in. Historically, Merdeka Square is the place where, in 1957, the Malayan Flag was first hoisted. Proximity to the square, one can find can gardens and several historical places such as Galeri Kuala Lumpur, Sultan Abdul Samad building, old Kuala Lumpur railway station and more. It is a place, we would say, perfect to be spent on an evening or early night, after you are tired of witnessing the rest of Kuala Lumpur.

Aaj main upar, aasman neeche…!

For those of you who wish to gain an all new perspective of Kuala Lumpur and witness it from an altitude higher than the average tourist, we suggest you head to the Menara Kuala Lumpur also known as the KL Tower. Measuring 421 meters, is the tallest telecommunication tower in South East Asia, and is a tourist attraction apart from being used for broadcasting and communication purposes. Visitors can go till the deck and experience a panoramic view of the city, and indulge themselves in a lip-smacking meal at the revolving restaurant in this majestic tower. The Petronas Towers, on the other hand, offers equally seamless view of the city; however, you need to line up quite earlier because only a thousand people are allowed to enter the skybridge in a day. Beware of bheed!

Shopping

Malaysia aaye, lekin shopping nahi ki? Kya baath kar rahe ho? A vacation or a holiday is incomplete without a visit to the local market. Apart from Little India, places like Chinatown and Central Market (Pasar Seni) are regarded as the best places for shopping. From accessories to shoes to bags, name it and you will find it here. Plus, if you have negotiation skills, you can even hit the jackpot by getting your favorite things at a price less than the original prices. Happy Shopping!

Street Food

Leave the high-end fine dining restaurants for some time; if you are someone who is looking forward for an authentic Malaysian cuisine, check out the local hawkers at the food stalls, who will not just offer the best value-for-money food, but share some interesting facts and information about the places in Kuala Lumpur as well. Street food + conversation with the vendor = perfect combination!

Forest Research Institute, Malaysia

This one is dedicated to the people in search of serenity and tranquility. Situated away from the hassles and honks of the city, the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia or FRIM for short is the perfect escape for people who wish to spend time with nature –amidst lush green trees, stroll under the shades of them and experience indigenous species of flora and fauna.

Malls

Malls are the reflection of Malaysia’s fast growing economy, and missing out on some of them will make you regret on reaching home. For those brand conscious souls out there, there are loads of malls around the city you can walk in and shop till you drop. Some of the malls are so ho huge that it will take a couple of days in the itinerary just to see them completely. If you are game for it, try checking out malls like Mid Valley Megamall, Sunway Pyramid, KLCC and more.

They say Kuala Lumpur is best explored on foot rather than by posh vehicles. With loads of other gems to be visited, the city of Kuala Lumpur is indeed one of the most beautiful and exotic destinations in the world.
